Dover College’s A-level results

A third of all A Level results are at an A*/A grade

Dover College today celebrated some of the best results on the Kent coast with over a third of all A Level results at a three year high of an A* or A grade, bucking the national trend. Almost half of all grades were above a B, equating to an impressive average UCAS candidate points per entry total of 93 which is higher than local selective grammar schools on previous year’s results.

36% of all A Level subjects offered by the school recorded no grade less than a C, with Art Textiles and Russian achieving nothing less than an A grade. The value added through a creative, caring and individually focused approach was clearly evident across all the departments with difficult subjects such as languages and history especially strong, seeing fantastic results across all their courses.

Gareth Doodes, Dover College’s Headmaster said proudly: “I am delighted by our excellent A Level results. They are a testament to all the hard work of our pupils, staff and parents. Our leaving pupils can now proceed with confidence to the universities and careers of their choice. Above all, the results demonstrate the benefit of small class sizes, creative teaching and high academic standards within a caring, family community.”

Four students deserve a particular mention for the quality of their results: School Prefect, James Tapsell achieved two A grades, and three B’s, with fellow Prefects Isobel Armstrong and Felicity Donnelly achieving three A’s and two C’s at A Level, as well as four A*’s and one A equivalent at BTEC between them. Textiles pupil Livia Papiernik-Berkhauer received an excellent A*, A, B and C, and now goes on to take up a place at the prestigious Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace.
