Overview

Epsom College was originally founded as The Royal Medical Benevolent College in 1853 with the aim of providing accommodation and support for medical professionals. Its initial struggles with funding proved to be difficult for its goal, so the school was opened up to all children. Epsom College has come so far since its establishment in 1855. Epsom has since expanded to include a Lower School and even overseas to Malaysia.

The school is most known for its excellence in sports. Epsom is among UK’s leading schools for rifle shooting and many alumni have gone on to play professional rugby for the Harlequins, England and Irish Lions.

Epsom College has high standards of education and pastoral care, which is why it has been given the Excellent rating in all areas of inspection by the ISI. The inspection conducted in 2019 had no further recommendations for the school, which is an indication that the school is excelling in all aspects of education, pastoral care, staff wellbeing, facilities upkeep, and so on.

With its ethos of serve, share, and care, it is clear that student wellbeing is a priority at Epsom. The school sets a high bar for holistic support for its students. The school is one of just four UK boarding schools to be awarded the Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools.

Quite a good school with good education and nice grounds. The architecture is also interesting. My brother actually went here but I’ve been here for exams and I’ve also visited several times. It was very much a sporty/rugby school but now it’s becoming more rounded and Academic.

I remember being most impressed by the school grounds, it’s gorgeous. My son absolutely loves the camarederie in the hockey team and has been happy to be at Epsom. I have no doubts about the quality of teaching here too.
