Acs Cobham International School
The boarding house at ACS Cobham International School is one of Europe’s leading residential school facilities, providing separate wing accommodation for over 100 boys and girls aged between 12 and 18.
The school upholds its belief that the boarding experience should encourage positive involvement, with students engaged in a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including international nights, barn dances, quiz nights, formal dinners, house athletic competitions, leadership challenge weekends, skills for life courses, talent nights and countless cultural trips to London. Moreover, the school offers participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and the ACS outreach programme in Namibia.
Cobham is proud of its international roots and thus it strives to provide a relaxed and secure home for students from over 30 nationalities. The celebration of diversity of each other’s cultures and customs is pivotal to boarding life at the school.
An international university preparatory curriculum (rather than GCSEs and A-levels) is offered by ACS Cobham, including the renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP courses). The school has almost thirty years experience of teaching the IB, which is reflected in the excellent results its students constantly achieve. With a 93% pass rate and an average score equivalent to over three As at A-level last year, school leavers are well-placed to go on to study at prestigious British universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge, London School of Economics and Imperial College.
Recreational facilities on campus include soccer and rugby pitches, baseball diamonds, an all-weather Olympic-sized athletics track, tennis courts and a six-hole golf course. In addition, boarders have full use of our state-of-the-art sports centre, which comprises an international arena, a 25-metre competition swimming pool, a gymnasium, a weight training room, a dance and aerobics studio, a shop and eateries.
All student rooms are designed for two, with en-suite bathrooms and individual study desks, as well as internet access, community lounges, games rooms, a boarders-only dining hall for breakfast and dinner, and two fully-equipped student kitchenettes. A purpose-built food court complex serves up a healthy and nutritionally balanced diet, thus fully embracing the international diversity of our student body.
ACS has a 134-seat Interactive Learning Centre, therefore enabling students and teachers to better interact with the many learning opportunities around them. The recently opened centre comes complete with audio and video conferencing, microphones, delegate voting, online streaming video and access to Wi-Fi.
