Beechwood Sacred Heart School

Set in a large campus with views of stunning open countryside, the fully co-educational day and boarding Beechwood School can be found. Located close to Tunbridge Wells town centre, the School is within easy reach of London.

Warm and homely welcome
Beechwood prides itself on its welcoming atmosphere and helping new pupils to settle in and make friends for life. The School also provides lessons in English as an additional language (EAL), and sessions to help with pronunciation and spoken development courses to help pupils speak English more confidently. A one-year Foundation Sixth Form course is offered to those who wish to develop their English prior to embarking on examination courses.

Boarding for both sexes
Over 80% of Beechwood’s pupils come from the UK, and a wide range of nationalities from the UK and around the world is guaranteed to be found in the boarding houses. Derived from its Catholic tradition, Beechwood conforms to high standards and traditional values – such as honesty and respect for others. Pupils are tolerant and open-minded as they are taught to embrace cultural diversity.

Recent refurbishment of the boarding houses has been completed to provide comfortable, modern accommodation, in single rooms for Sixth Formers and two or three-bedded rooms for younger pupils.

New boarders have the opportunity to appreciate British history and culture through excursions to London and Brighton.

‘Boarders are happy, confident and articulate. They have very positive attitudes to boarding life and appreciate the opportunity for independence that it offers.’

Focus on excellence
Small classes and expert teaching facilitate systematic learning and inspires pupils to explore new concepts and, ultimately, reach their full potential. The School focuses on developing key skills necessary for university and pupils’ future careers. These skills include encouraging independent thinking, higher-order thinking skills, confidently approaching problem-solving exercises and instilling more rounded learning habits.

‘The school is successful in helping pupils achieve good results while developing as independent, caring and articulate individuals.’
