Bromsgrove International Summer School
In its central location, Bromsgrove School is just a short drive from Birmingham and close to major transport links. Students coming from abroad benefit from airport transfers from Heathrow and Birmingham which are included in the fees.
Course fees include everything you would expect at a summer school, such as medical supervision, residential accommodation, full-day excursions each fortnight and assistance with securing visas.
After taking an initial placement test on arrival, Juniors (8-12) and Teens (13-17) will be assigned to groups with an average of 14 students.
Including presentation skills, students receive 15 hours on intensive English tuition per week. A varied syllabus and fun activities are designed designed to motivate students and to encourage confidence in speaking more fluently. Alongside the English and Communication course, Bromsgrove also runs an Academic Preparation Course aimed at students who wish to study at a UK boarding school in the future.
Sports and activities
A range of sports and activities are made available to students. These include football, dodgeball, cookery and swimming. Off-site activities such as bowling take place at regular intervals throughout the course.
The Activities sessions are implemented in such a way to run alongside the School’s existing programme for local British junior pupils. Therefore, students can mix with British children, enabling them to make new friends, pick up new vocabulary and improve communication skills.
Students can be assured of visiting places of cultural and historical interest, such as Stratford, Warwick, London and Oxford. There will be plenty of time for shopping and sightseeing too. Trips are subject to change, but there is also a chance for students to go to Drayton Manor Theme Park.
Bromsgrove does have 10 Boarding Houses, but Summer School participants are housed within the newest Boarding Houses in either Oakley, Elmshurst or Mary Windsor. Rooms are warm and cosy, and the majority of rooms will be singles or doubles although some students will reside in triple or four-bed dorms. Some rooms have en-suite facilities though these are subject to availability.
A free laundry service is available three times a week.
