Burgess Hill School for Girls
The 14 acre campus of Burgess Hill School for Girls is situated in very pleasant rural surroundings in Burgess Hill. It is only a three minute walk to the mainline station to London, and 20 minutes by car to Gatwick and 60 minutes to Heathrow. There is also convenient access to the Channel Tunnel and major ports.
Girls are welcomed into a boarding environment from age 11, while casual/flexi-boarding starts from the age of 7.
Equipped with modern facilities, the School has very attractive boarding houses. The houses are run very informally in order to create a homely, family atmosphere. The common rooms are light and spacious, while excellent computer facilities, a games room, and kitchens keep the boarders highly satisfied. The gardens are used for relaxation and summer barbecues.
The School’s facilities are available to the boarders in the evenings and at weekends. A host of instructive and entertaining activities are organised every weekend
The School environment
Small classes, expert teaching, high expectations and strong motivation are Burgess Hill’s primary principles to achieve academic excellence.
Swimming, Team sports, horse riding, Young Enterprise and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme represent only a small number of the extracurricular activities on offer. The School also has a very strong musical tradition which includes orchestras, choirs and ensemble groups.
English as a Second Language (ESL) support is given to international students, if necessary.
The majority of leavers go on to higher education and some of the UK’s most prestigious universities.
“Academic excellence is achieved by high expectations, very strong motivation, excellent teaching and small classes.”
