Dollar Academy

Founded in 1818, Dollar Academy is one of Scotland’s best co-educational boarding and day education schools for 5-18 year olds. The School has a rich and proud heritage as well as an enviable reputation for academic excellence.

Occupying a stunning 70-acre open campus in the centre of Dollar, a picturesque town in the east of Scotland, the Academy is surrounded on one side by a golf course, and has inspiring views of Scottish scenery.
Dollar Academy is just 30 minutes away from Edinburgh International Airport, where dozens of direct flights each day to London and the continent are scheduled.

Entry requirements
Visits to the school can be arranged at any time of the year. International students are warmly welcomed by current students and tutors who enjoy sharing their insights and tips.
Parents can contact the Headmaster (the Rector) to discuss entrance requirements as well as the abilities and interests of their child.

First class boarding facilities are available at Dollar Academy. A full schedule of social events, sports and excursions during weekends are organised for pupils who benefit from a complete boarding experience. Boarding pupils can also take advantage of the wide-range of facilities on offer including a swimming pool, an on-site gymnasium and all-weather courts.

Pupils can choose between no fewer than 70 extracurricular clubs including art, sports, music, drama and cultural activities. From falconry to cricket, there is no shortage of options. Teams at the Academy are among the strongest in the country, with internationalists prospering in various disciplines. However, it is important to know that Dollar places exceptional emphasis on participation and enjoyment.
Musically, there are concerts, a host of large and small-scale productions and a world champion pipe band, as well as a choice of 12 choirs and orchestras. There is well-developed Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme and a full Combined Cadet Force programme.

Examination results at the Academy regularly top league tables, which in turn means pupils gain places at top universities, including Cambridge, Oxford, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and St Andrews, as well as universities in mainland Europe and in the USA. Such achievements are only made possible as a result of high-quality teaching.

A truly excellent education emphasises the development of the whole person; developing enthusiasm, ability, ambition and friendships that last for life.”
