Friends’ School (Essex)
Located in the historic market town of Saffron Walden, Essex, is the small and lively Friends’ School. The School is deeply proud of its 300 years’ tradition of stimulating education for both boys and girls aged 3-18. London is only one hour away, while Cambridge is just 30 minutes. Stansted Airport is only 20 minutes away, while other major London airports are within 90 minutes.
Friends’ boarding houses are located within the main school building. International boarders are warmly welcomed as they contribute a great deal to the School and boarding community. Friends’ also respects that the School and its pupils can learn a great deal from its international pupils.
The School offers a range of courses at GCSE and A-level. The curriculum is diverse and balanced, combining academic challenge with an excellent extracurricular programme.
Friends’ is able to successfully meet students’ individual needs owing to its small size. Each student is mentored and their progress and wellbeing is closely monitored with parents kept well-informed throughout the process. Most leavers gain places at their first choice university. Last year’s results show pupils achieved an overall pass rate of 95.4% at GCE A-level, with 72.3% achieving A* to C grades.
