Lancing College is a boarding and day school for 550 boys and girls aged 13–18. It is located six miles from the city of Brighton and Hove high on the South Downs with an amazing view of the sea.
The College organises transport for pupils from international airports at the start and finish of each term.
Methods of entry
Entry is at 13+ and 16+. The College hosts open mornings in May and October, while families can arrange visits on an individual basis throughout the year.
Two-thirds of school’s intake is made up of boarders, from countries around the world and locally.
The entire campus, based around two main quadrangles, amounts to 550 acres with its excellent playing fields and a student-run 70-acre farm. Some of the most impressive buildings of any school in the country can be found at Lancing College.
The inspirational art school provides large studios, lecture theatre, a library and a photography suite. Close by is the open-plan Design Technology Department which offers a stimulating environment in which to create and work.
Curriculum and extracurricular activities
An impressive range of activities is available to pupils, notably in the areas of music, creativity, drama, debating, technology, and community service. Lancing is traditionally a ‘football school’, while other sports are practised, from fencing to fives and badminton to ballet.
At both GCSE and AS-/A-level, examination results are excellent with roughly 98% of sixth-form leavers moving on to university each year.
