St John’s International Summer School (Sidmouth)
In the safe Edwardian seaside town of Sidmouth, with Devon countryside all around, St John’s summer camps offer international students the chance to take part in fully residential courses on a weekly basis. The camps are run in July and August for students aged 7-16.
Places are limited on St John’s Camp Courses and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Longer stays of more than a week are possible.
Lessons are typically held between 9am-12.30pm with a small break in the morning. Students are placed into groups according to their level: ‘beginner’, ‘intermediate’ or ‘advanced’.
Naturally, activities form a key part of the programme. They usually take place in a four hour block after lunch as well as after supper in the evening.
St John’s has spacious grounds and playing fields, an outdoor swimming pool, indoor sports hall and tennis courts, ensuring that children will have as much fun as possible.
Indoor activities include drama, art, pottery, chess and music, while outdoors, children can play rounders, cricket and volleyball, among other sports.
At weekends, St John’s organises local excursions to historic sites and the coastline, where they can walk and admire the views. There is also the chance to go fossil hunting on the stunning Jurassic Coast. Dartmoor and Exmoor are easily accessible with hiking trips arranged to make the most of these two National Parks.
