St Lawrence College
Founded in 1879, St Lawrence College is a medium-sized school home to 550 day and boarding pupils from local, UK and international families. Boarders are accepted from 7 years of age. Children aged 3 to 18 years can make the most of the spacious, stunning grounds where beautiful architecture blends well with modern buildings and facilities.
Set in a safe, self-contained 40 acres campus within easy walking distance of the historic seaside town of Ramsgate, the School has favourable transport links to the continent owing to its proximity to both Dover and the Channel Tunnel. London is only 75 minutes away by high-speed rail link to St Pancras International. Gatwick and Heathrow airports are under two hours away.
A large-scale programme of investment in recent times has created some remarkable facilities for boarders, including a new girls’ boarding house and a modern purpose-built home for junior boarders. En-suite single or double rooms are available for all senior boarders, while younger boarders stay in rooms of between two and five pupils with their own en-suite bathrooms.
Within a supportive community, St Lawrence has a long record of providing a top-class academic education. The School is also modern in its outlook and well-placed to equip pupils for a rapidly changing world.
Facilities and extracurricular pursuits
With a new 500-seat theatre in place, music and drama flourish at the School.
Sporting facilities are exceptional, while many sports, such as swimming, netball and football, are led by expert coaches. Contained within the sports centre are a fitness suite, squash courts, climbing wall, dance studio and a large sports hall for badminton and basketball, among other disciplines.
A well-developed activities programme includes the CCF (Combined Cadet Force) and a thriving Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, as well as archery, chess golf, fencing, football, sailing, horse riding, table tennis and musical theatre.
