Aldenham School

With a history dating back to 1597, Aldenham has really stood the test of time and continues to flourish at unmatchable levels. Offering a strong community with extensive tradition, Aldenham has continually updated facilities to maintain pace with present-day requirements. The school is still situated on its original site of more than 110 acres of countryside, and is only 13 miles from central London and also close to Heathrow Airport.

The ethos of the School is centred on the boarding houses, with staff at hand to help whatever the time of day. Entry levels of pupils range from the highly successful Nursery through to the sixth form, with boarding available for boys and girls from the age of 11. Weekly boarding is available to those whose guardians live in close proximity to the School.

A new state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre and extension to the Music School, plus English, media studies and modern languages classroom block, and a modern theatre with studio classroom and sound and lighting room, are all part of the School’s recent expansions.

Academic matters
A broad curriculum embraces the arts, humanities and sciences alongside design technology and computing studies. Dedicated staff are highly qualified and the average class size is 20, down to 11 in the sixth form; the close-knit, small and supportive community creates an ideal environment for a high-quality education, with a personal tutor for every pupil.

Specialities in the areas of drama, music and sport
Aldenham prides itself on providing an excellent all-round education, as well as an extensive games and activities programme.

With a large number of concerts and plays throughout the year, both inside and outside of school, the School’s strong music and drama departments are practised in creating challenging and exciting productions.

Football, hockey, netball, cricket, tennis and basketball teams are prominent. Aided by up-to-date facilities, such as an artificial turf pitch and a sports hall, a plethora of sports from sailing to judo are available, including a sports hall and artificial turf pitch. Pupils are guaranteed the services of professional coaches.

Sixth form
Comprising around 170 pupils and benefiting from a recently opened Sixth Form Centre, the sixth form is a pivotal part of Aldenham. Leadership is encouraged in a boarding environment which allows for the assumption and development of individual responsibilities.
A wide range of courses are offered at both AS and A2.

EFL
The learning support department provides specialist English lessons for overseas students.
