What Is Exam Invigilation?

When you apply for a UK boarding school, most schools will require students to sit for standardised entrance exams in subjects such as English, Mathematics and General papers. These tests require an official exam invigilator to administer the exam. This is where Britannia Malaysia comes in. We are an approved Invigilator Centre for most of the popular boarding schools and we can assist you with the whole process of school selection, application, sitting for exams, getting student visas and more.

What Is The Role Of The Exam Invigilator?

An invigilator is tasked with overseeing the examination session in the presence of the candidates. Their role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the external examination or assessment process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
  • Maintaining the security of the examination before, during, and after the session.
  • Preventing any potential cheating by candidates.
  • Avoiding any administrative errors.
  • Coordinating with the examination officer.

What Exams Require Invigilation?

All school entrance exams require invigilation. Assessments vary between schools, and it ultimately depends on the school you are applying for. However, most schools require students to take standardised entrance tests in subjects such as English and Mathematics as well as general papers. These tests are typically taken in Q3 of the preceding year of entry.

Another type of assessment which would require invigilation is UKiset, an adaptive online pre-entry test taken in English designed to support admission into the UK independent education system. Ukiset is designed to test a student’s ability and aptitude for learning through standardised assessments, and provide schools with valuable information on a student’s potential within their school.
