Coventry University started as Coventry College of Design in 1843. After merging with Coventry College of Art, Lanchester College of Technology, and Rugby College of Engineering Technology, the university was a polytechnic until 1992. It has a strong focus on applied research. Coventry University Overview
Coventry University has an accessible, interactive and international approach to its teaching style. All first-year students will experience a common first year to mingle and learn from fellows of other courses.
As UK’s fifth-most diverse university based on the number of international students, Coventry University has developed its own foundation and pre-master’s programmes to provide international students with what they need to enter their chosen undergraduate and master programmes. The university provides plenty of free essential courses on top of the usual undergraduate modules to expand their students’ learning experience. Besides the usual opportunities to study abroad and go on international trips, Coventry students can also experience the world from their own homes via the university’s Virtual World Tour.
The university received a five-star rating from the QS Stars University Ratings. Studying at Coventry University means you get different options on where to study. Students can choose to study at the university’s London branch to experience student life in the country’s most bustling capital. Coventry students also have the option of CU Coventry courses that only teach one module per year and have no year-end exams for busy students. And if personal circumstances hinder a student’s ability to be present at the university’s campus for studying, they can also study online using the Coventry University Online system. During the pandemic, Coventry was the only 5 QS Star-rated university in the UK to offer fully online learning degrees in 2020, where students can achieve an internationally-recognised qualification from Coventry University from the comfort of their own home.
More than 80% of its graduates were employed or in further studies within 15 months after graduation, according to the Guardian University Guide. The university offers career-related courses with the support of The Talent Team to help students obtain a job after graduation. Coventry University offers flexibility with full-time and part-time study, multiple course start times, as well as online learning. There are also campuses in London and Scarborough as well as Coventry.
They put students first with expert teaching staff, continual investment in their facilities, and environments and services designed to help students maximise their potential. Their Disruptive Media Learning Lab and experimental learning areas will inspire their students to think differently. Coventry University Entry Requirements
Applicants taking A Levels are expected to present at least three full GCE A Levels for entry to undergraduate courses.
There are also International Foundation Year courses which are intensive 1.5 or 2-semester programmes designed specifically to provide you with a pathway to undergraduate degree study at the university.
Coventry University Entry Deadline
In the UK, all university applications (including those submitted by international students like you) go through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, more commonly known as UCAS.
Most undergraduate courses will share the same deadline of 31 January of every year. Some courses such as Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Sciences and universities such as Oxford and Cambridge have an earlier deadline of 16 October in the year before admission.

Coventry University Accommodation
Coventry University offers both university-owned/managed accommodation both on campus and nearby. FutureLets is the university’s accommodation service to assist students with finding a place to live in throughout their student life. There are options for both en-suite and shared facilities and catered or self-catered rooms, priced between £125-£200 per week all-inclusive. The university-owned halls offer plenty of social spaces such as pool tables, sofas and games consoles. There are four self-catered options, namely, The Cycle Works, Singer Hall, Bishop Gate and Godiva Place, all located near the campus. The Bishop Gate features its own on-site gym and TV room, while the Godiva Place has a cinema room for entertainment purposes.

The Disruptive Media Learning Lab
This is a semi-autonomous cross-university experimental unit in which interdisciplinary collaboration, new technologies and new teaching approaches are applied to projects that stimulate learning and innovation. There is The Lab collaborative working space where students can come to study as a group. Students can explore different ways to learn, hold meetings, and deliver workshops in an informal environment.
The Lanchester library
The library is open 24 hours a day, all days of the week. Spanning five floors are plenty of private and group learning studios for all learning needs. Students also have access to 1,400 individual study spaces, over 500 computer workstations, and more than 720,000 learning resources in digital, hardcopy and multimedia forms.
Centre for Academic Writing (CAW)
International students have a dedicated centre to assist their writing tasks, including dissertations and projects.
The new Arts and Humanities building
Scheduled to launch in early 2023, this is a learning space where innovative teaching methods and collaborations are applied. Students will get two immersive studios with the latest augmented reality, virtual reality, 3D motion capture technology and more. Media students will enjoy dedicated studios and workshops in film, photography, printmaking, wood, metal, plastics, ceramic fibre clay and digital education. There is also a hyper-studio for large-scale projects, a new gallery space and an events atrium and café.
Coventry University Student Activities and Clubs
Social life at Coventry University starts with the Welcome Week or Freshers’ Week at the beginning of each term, then followed by Black History Month, Volunteering Week, Varsity, One World Week and Feedback Weeks. The Coventry University Students’ Union supports more than 50 sports clubs and 100 societies about various interests ranging from culture, performance, music, literature, politics, skills, networking, to academia and more. Meanwhile, ResLife in the university halls hosts plenty of interesting events such as silent discos, dance classes, cooking workshops and film nights to get students to integrate with their peers.
Sports clubs
Of the 50 sports clubs at Coventry, many actively compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues. The university offers a Varsity tournament in which the university team compete against the local University of Warwick. The university created the “Team Phoenix” programme which provides extra resources, support from professional coaching and funding for top-performing athletes.
Coventry invested in a large and modern fitness suite with various cardiovascular and resistance machines, free-weight equipment and a functional core area for students’ fitness needs. There is a professional fitness team to advise and assist students. Lovers of basketball, badminton, five-a-side football and table tennis can enjoy the indoor sports halls here. Recreational players can apply for the university’s Active programme leagues, games and tournaments. Besides indoor facilities, Coventry students can practise at the university’s outdoor full-sized football, rugby and hockey pitches, an artificial grass pitch and a cricket strip at The Place in Westwood Health. Professional athletes can also utilise the high-performance suite managed by two United Kingdom Strength & Conditioning Association (UKSCA)-accredited coaches.
