Among its 1,600 children aged 3–18, 500-year-old Bromsgrove School has around 500 boarding pupils. The School is located in the heart of England on a peaceful 100-acre site full of trees, greenery and expansive playing fields. It is just 15 miles from both Worcester and Birmingham. Access to the motorway network, Birmingham International Airport and Heathrow Airport is straightforward.
Bromsgrove is passionate about sport, and the teaching of A-levels and the International Baccalaureate in the Sixth Form. With an average score of 37.3 points in 2014, the School’s IB results continue on an upward trend. A-level results are also excellent right across the board with nearly 90% A* to B grades in the last five years. Mathematics, economics, geography, business studies, and science are some of the School’s strongest disciplines.
Over 80% of leavers go to their first-choice university.
Facilities and developments
Since 1994, over £23m has been invested in buildings and facilities, a significant percentage devoted to 100 new en-suite boarding rooms and refurbished boarding houses. The sports facilities are among the best in the country. All academic buildings are at the forefront of innovation, with 18 new science laboratories and a stunning new library.
Boarding houses and pupil care
Both the Prep and Senior School has witnessed expansion in boarding facilities, the Prep School in particular boasting a large and dynamic boarding community. Both weekly and full boarding is offered to Prep School boarders in an awe-inspiring state-of-the-art facility. Senior School facilities are available to those who attend Prep School.
Houseparents and a dedicated tutor team are resident in each house to carry out duties throughout the day and night on a rota basis.
Under the control of the School doctor, a dedicated team of nurses supply on-site medical care in the School’s health clinic. Pupils enjoy a rich, nutritious diet from chefs who prepare three square meals a day.
Bromsgrove offers a one-year Pre-IB course for overseas students aged 15+. A fully-functioning international students department led by six dedicated teachers provides academic and pastoral assistance to international pupils.
