Warwick School Overview
Warwick School is the oldest boys’ school in the country with a history dating back to the year 914. The school offers the best facility in all independent schools with an expansive curriculum geared for the best academic results. The place offers the best environment for academically gifted pupils who thrive in an all boys’ environment.
Most Warwick School leavers entered the UK’s top universities and Russell Group Universities such as Nottingham, Exeter, UCL, Bath and Durham. Their most popular choices at the undergraduate level are the Sciences, Medicine, as well as Computer Sciences. As well as some leavers who take up places at universities abroad, there are also leavers who explore Degree Apprenticeships, which allow them to gain industry experience and work towards a degree with companies such as Big Four accountancy firms, Accenture, BAE Systems, and more.
The school occasionally organises an apprenticeship fair to encourage their boys to take on apprenticeships with famous organisations such as Barclays, IBM, PWC, Shell, Warwickshire County Council and the Police.

Warwick School offers GCSE and A-Levels.
Chemistry and Mathematics are the best subjects among the Warwick boys, followed by Computer Science, DT, Economics, Art and Latin.
The Headmaster aims to nurture academic curiosity by developing a deep and wide curriculum. The ICT programme teaches both coding and functional skills. Language courses at Warwick School also go beyond the daily use of the language to teach about linguistics to instil an interest in learning among the students. Inter-subject connection and self-reflection are also encouraged in between courses. The school has also developed a few interesting add-on subjects for students between Years 7-12, such as critical thinking, independent projects, philosophy, and EPQs for Year 12 students.
The school does not shy away from innovation as it has adopted the use of technology in education with Virtual Reality (VR).
Warwick School Application Deadline
Key Dates for Entry
Age 7 is the main entry year for most Warwick boys. However, the school also takes new pupils at ages 12+, 13+ (Year 9), 14+ (Year 10) and 16+ (Sixth Form).
For Junior School (from Year 3), the entry examination commences in January.
For Senior School (from Year 7), the majority of pupils enter in Year 7 or Year 12 (Lower Sixth) at the start of the academic year. Only on a few specific occasions can a pupil enter during the school year. There is an additional intake for Year 9.
Full applications for entry into Year 7 and Year 9 for September 2025 are required to be with the admissions department by 12 noon on Friday, 4 October 2024.
Entrance Examinations will take place on Saturday, 16 November 2024 (Year 7 and Year 8 entry) and Monday, 18 November 2024 (Year 9 entry).
Year 7 Assessment Interviews will be held on Thursday, 28 and Friday, 29 November 2024. Please note that all applicants are invited to interview.
Scholarship Day will take place on Wednesday, 27 November 2024, by invitation only.
For Sixth Form entry (from Year 12), the application deadline for September 2025 entry is noon on Friday 28 February 2025 and offer acceptance deadline is 29 April 2025.
Warwick School Ranking And Results
Warwick School was among the finalists in the Independent School of the Year 2023 for Outstanding New Initiative category, for the outstanding and innovative work surrounding of their Design Thinking course. The school was also the winner of The Independent School of the Year 2022 Awards. In addition, Warwick School received the prestigious Artsmark Platinum Award, accredited by Arts Council England. This award recognised the school’s outstanding art provision.

Warwick School Entry Requirements
At 11+ years old, interested applicants will take an entry exam including Maths, English and an online ability test. The candidate is expected to achieve an approximate result of SAT level 4 and above to pass the standard entry.
After the exam, the candidate will attend an interview before receiving a letter of decision roughly three weeks after.
For 7-9+ years old candidates
Preparatory eligibility is accessed internally. Interested pupils will sit for online tests in Maths and English and write a short, handwritten creative writing exercise.
For 16+ years old (Sixth Form) candidates
Interested candidates must attain a minimum of 51 GCSE points from their best GCSE grades, which is the equivalent of three grade 7 (A) and five grade 6 (B).
The candidate’s eligibility will be based on the interview result with the Head of Sixth Form and the Deputy Head Academic, a report from the candidate’s current school (with an indication of predicted grades at GCSE) and the satisfactory academic result that meets the entry requirements as mentioned above.

Warwick School Accommodation
Warwick School offers two Boarding Houses for 60 boys from Year 9 and above: The Way House for pupils in Years 9 and 10 and the School House for pupils in Years 11 to 13. Most of the boarders are Sixth Formers and international pupils from around the world, including China and Hong Kong.
Each boy has his own space with furnished bedrooms and contemporary bathrooms. Other facilities include games and TV rooms, music practice rooms and a sports centre with a swimming pool, a gym, indoor squash courts, indoor and outdoor sports hall. As with any fully-equipped boarding school, the boarding houses have matrons who look after the students’ wellbeing and there is also a Medical Centre on campus should the students need any medical attention.
The school takes special care to honour the heritage of its international boarders. British traditions such as Christmas are celebrated alongside Asian cultural events such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year. The boys get to venture out of the school to places such as Brighton, Alton Towers or even international destinations such as Paris, Holland, Belgium, New York and many more. Weekends are filled with action games such as go-karting, paintballing, and Laser Quest. The boys can shop at Birmingham or Bicester Village and have full access to the schools’ abundant sporting facilities including the swimming pool and indoor sports hall.
Warwick School Student Services and Extracurricular Activities
Pastoral Care
Newcomers at the age of 13 or 14 will get an assigned “buddy” from the day boys of their year group to assist in their transition into school life. The boys also receive plenty of support from their specialist tutors for academic advice. Their daily boarding life is also tended to by the houses’ matrons and housekeeping staff.
Extracurricular Activities
Warwick School has over 90 clubs and societies for all kinds of interests. The school’s technological focus is demonstrated through the specialised attention on buggy building and engineering for junior boys and robotics for senior boys. The school aims to promote research skills and other extra-curricular topics.
Music and Drama
Music is developed as early as junior school. The boys have plenty of choices from small group strings lessons to a 150-strong choir, bands, jazz groups and more. Senior boys can learn an orchestral instrument as part of the curriculum – the school has an initiative that offers free music lessons. The most talented ones can take musicianship lessons. There is a huge performance involving all the Year 7 boys. All their concerts are of the highest quality. The school ensembles have performed worldwide in famous venues such as Albert Hall London, Notre Dame Paris, St Mark’s Venice, St Paul’s London, Uganda and more.
The Warwick Hall is a professional-level venue for both concerts and dramas for the whole school as well as one of the largest and finest performance venues in the region. There is an exhibition space that is regularly used by both senior Warwick pupils and local primary schools. Productions and theatrical events are hosted at the 250-seater Bridge House Theater. The boys can be involved in all areas of production from technical work backstage to being an on-stage talent. Year 6 pupils can start getting involved in backstage technical stagecraft by learning alongside a professional team.
The school runs Altiora – their own dance company in association with Motionhouse Dance Company. Many distinctive movements in various school productions come from here.
Sports
Warwick is well-known for its sports achievements, especially in rugby. Other sports that the school is known for are junior squash, county hockey, cricket, swimming and water polo. Students involved in these sports have achieved numerous local and national awards.
The sports facility here is impressive and is shared with the local community as well. The focus is not on competitiveness but to be the best version of oneself and to build a sense of sportsmanship among its students.
